So, I made these awhile ago – and almost forgot to post them (gasp!). So here they are, in all their Golden Oreo-glory. You know, I actually meant to use regular Birthday Cake Chocolate Oreos, but they didn’t have them, so I thought ‘Hey why not try Birthday Cake Golden Oreos?’ I have to say I’m pretty glad, these were the perfect vanilla-birthday cake flavor. They didn’t even need chocolate, if you can believe that. But of course either will work.
Need a way to use up those leftover candy canes? I did. So I made these delicious treats. I have been on a search for cereal that I can eat. I’ve found a few ‘allergen-free’ cereals… but they were not great. Turns out, the Gluten Free Chex are approved! Who knew. Anyways when I saw the vanilla ones I thought they’d make a great marshmallowy treat.Continue Reading
I usually like a little afternoon snack. It’s like the 3 o’clock-slump-snack. Often times, a granola bar with some fruit, usually an apple, really hits the spot. Once I cut dairy I found some new granola bars, but of course they didn’t have chocolate chips 🙁 And then when I cut the rest of the allergens, my new ones were no good too. Unfortunately the box says “may contain wheat” and they definitely contain nuts. I found out shorty after, they all do! So you guessed it, I made my own. And you know what?! So much better! My posts have been sparse recently, to say the least. Not only is this because I had a scrumptious little baby boy back in May, and mom life is BUSY!!! But also because I have some new dietary restrictions thanks to my son’s food allergies. Since I searched for women with similar stories, I decided to share mine, in hopes that it might help someone else going though the same thing. Don’t worry, this isn’t turning into a “mom blog”, but because my recipes will change for now, I felt I needed to let you know why. This blog is all about the food, and will continue to be!!Continue Reading
These are UNBELIEVABLE. Seriously. I freaked out about these. Everyone else freaked out too. They’re that good. Think like, a crispy, gooey, peanut buttery, candy bar brownie? They are died-and-went-to-heaven good.Continue Reading
Last year when I started this blog, I didn’t realize that I made my very first post on National S’mores Day. Could I have chosen a better day!? So in honor of this holiday and my first blogiversary, I made these unbelievable brown butter s’mores blondies. I used a base blondie recipe, then added some new elements to set these over the edge!
I’m not sure if you knew how many different Kit Kat flavored there are, but there are a TON! My husband loves Asian food more than anyone I know, so when I spotted Green Tea Kit Kats at our local Japanese market I had to try them. Even though I’m not huge into green tea flavored anything, these are so good.
I’m slowly getting back into cooking and baking after having the little guy. Trying to plan baking times with napping times has proved to be much harder than expected! Ah the joys of motherhood…
Now that I’ve started again, I remember the main reason I love to bake; to bake for other people. Of course, I love baked goods myself (I can’t give something out without a taste test of course!), but I love baking for others even more. So what happens when you want to make something for someone thats super health-conscious? Like, someone that NEVER cheats! Ever. Um, these cookies people. I thought it would be nice to make something that seems like a ‘cheat’, but really isn’t too bad. The biggest challenge? There’s a fine line between delicious, healthier treats, and cardboard.
Chocolate and cinnamon?! I mean, come one. Another favorite combo of mine. These blondies sort of remind me of a breakfast coffee cake, but with the addition of chocolate. Not only did I use cinnamon in the batter itself, but I added cinnamon chips. If you haven’t had cinnamon blondies and you’re a cinnamon lover – it’s definitely a must!
I think you can make anything ‘Peeps’. Fill it with marshmallow and coat it with sugar, and Ithink you’ve got a Peep. That’s what I did with my Easter Macarons, or Peeps Macarons. They’re pink, they’re marshmallowy, they’re sugary, what more could you want on a day like Easter?Continue Reading
