Fruity Pebble Meringue Kisses

Fruity Pebble Meringue Kisses | The Blonde Buckeye

I love making fun things with cereal, probably because I LOVE cereal. All kinds. Healthy varieties and the sugared-up kinds. Lucky Charms, Cookies ‘n Cream, Chex and Fruit Loops were all super fun to play with, but one of my absolute favorites is Fruity Pebbles. They’re actually really versatile! If you pulse them in a food processor, you can basically turn them into fruity flour or less for fruity sprinkles, which could never be a bad thing. Or just leave them as they are. They’re awesome as a topping or an ingredient.

Leftover Halloween Candy Saltine Bark

Halloween Saltine Bark | The Blonde Buckeye

I actually wanted to make this last year, but usually I personally don’t have “leftover” candy. So this time I bought some, specifically to use and call “leftover”. The great thing is you can pretty much use any candy you like. I prefer chocolate with something like this, but by all means, add something fruity or whatever you have.Continue Reading

White Chocolate Rice Krispies Pops

White Chocolate Rice Krispie Pops | The Blonde Buckeye

Probably one of my favorite things right now is cereal. I would eat it for breakfast, lunch & dinner if that was considered a well-balanced diet. So it only seems natural to use it for treats too. These are Rice Krispies treats, elevated a few notches. With the addition of white chocolate in the bars, plus drizzled on top, it breathes new life into an old classic. Pop them on a stick you have super cute treats for a party or shower.

Peppermint S’more Sammies

Peppermint S'more Sammies | The Blonde Buckeye

Well, I’m sorry that I’ve been a little absent lately, but now I’m back and I’ve moved onto peppermint from pumpkin! These little treats are absolutely perfect for this time of year. There are very few ingredients (which is always nice), and they contain peppermint, which is what I’m after at the moment. All peppermint, all the time.Continue Reading

Caramel Sauce from Scratch

Caramel Sauce from Scratch | The Blonde Buckeye

Taking the idea from my Triple Lemon Macarons, I wanted to make another kind, using the same technique on the filling – it’s my ‘surprise inside’ filling. I thought “how good would salted caramel on the inside”. Sometimes I ask myself rhetorical questions during the recipe planning process, so what. I did a little research to find the best caramel sauce I could buy. The general consensus was that most store-bought caramel sauces aren’t that good! This would not work. Next resort: make my own caramel sauce from scratch.Continue Reading

Salted Dark Chocolate Almond Butter Cups

Salted Dark Chocolate Almond Butter Cups | The Blonde Buckeye

Hands down, my husband’s favorite flavor combination is peanut butter & chocolate, as far as sweets go (otherwise, I would just say meat in general). Although we don’t typically go for a store-bought candy bars for sweets, Reese’s is his absolute favorite.  So I wanted to make a homemade version, but a little healthier (& with a lot less ingredients). I used dark chocolate & subbed out the peanut butter for almond butter.  The combination of the rich dark chocolate & smooth almond butter, with a pinch of sea salt sets this treat over the edge. The honey gives it a mild sweetness, while it still tastes very decadent. I made mini cups & I’m so glad I did, because these guys are RICH. Just one definitely satisfies even the biggest sweet tooth.Continue Reading

Buckeye Pops with Pretzels

Buckeye Pretzel Pops | The Blonde Buckeye

I’m pretty sure that any treat you can put on a stick, can make it a little better (& quite possibly, easier to eat).  I remixed my grandma’s classic buckeye recipe by putting them on a candy stick & dipping the bottoms in crushed pretzels (right after the chocolate) creating a buckeye pretzel pop.  Put them in a little baggie with a bow & they make a precious package for a little holiday treat/ gift!  And um, sweet & salty? Yes yes & yes.
