SWEET FRUITY ALCOHOLIC COCKTAIL DRINKS
These fruity alcoholic beverages are creamy, boozy, and everything in between! These drinks, from traditional to modern, are appropriate for any occasion.
1. CLASSIC PIÑA COLADA
When it comes to sweet alcoholic cocktails, the pina colada ranks high. Did you know it’s a traditional cocktail that dates back to the 1950s? It’s become so popular that most restaurant renditions deviate significantly from the original. Here’s how to create a real pia colada! It has such a complex, fascinating flavor that it will quickly become your favorite.
This alcohol-free pia colada features the classic combination of pineapple and coconut. The name pina colada comes from the Spanish word for “strained pineapple,” invented in Puerto Rico in the 1950s. It has genuinely been Puerto Rico’s national drink since 1978! While the classic cocktail contains rum, cream of coconut, and freshly strained pineapple juice, we like to make things non-alcoholic and forgo the alcohol.
Pina Coladas can be blended or whisked up with ice. Both are great, but we prefer the creamier blended version. In any case, they’re a lot of fun and gorgeous, especially when topped with a pineapple wedge, a maraschino cherry, or both.
2. CLASSIC MUDSLIDE
The Mudslide is one of the best sweet cocktails out there! This drink’s traditional version couldn’t be more sophisticated…or delicious! According to legend, it was named after a guest’s dog, an Afghan hound named Bushwack, by bartender Angie Conigliaro and restaurant manager Tom Brokamp.

The Hurricane is fruity, super boozy, and completely enjoyable. This New Orleans dish is a bit of a splurge, but that’s precisely the point. No, this is a famous cocktail from the 1940s that has been (cough) spoiled by sugary sweet tourist renditions. This rum drink is breathtakingly complex with rum, orange liqueur, and expensive almond syrup. It’s just sweet enough, with nutty and vanilla undertones contrasting nicely with the citrus.
10. BRANDY ALEXANDER
The Brandy Alexander is a creamy, boozy treat of a sweet alcoholic drink. This simple cocktail combines Cognac with cocoa liqueur and is creamy, engaging, and delightful. It’s almost like a grown-up White Russian…and we’re here for it!
