Generally, a frozen Strawberries Daiquiri is available. A smooth blend of ice, rum, lime, simple syrup, and numerous strawberries is created. On a hot day, the cold treat is exactly what you need. It contains the stimulating properties of a fruit smoothie plus the extra advantage of alcohol.
This drink can be created with a wide range of rums, from lightly aged expressions to unaged varieties. A column-distilled rum from Puerto Rico will produce a different kind of cocktail than a thick, pungent rum from Jamaica or a dry, grassy French-style rum.
There is no single correct solution, so make a traditional Daiquiri with your choice rum for the best results. Just bear in mind to use a rum that won’t overpower the fresh fruit.
You don’t have to worry if you prefer your Strawberry Daiquiri shaken or don’t have a blender. To avoid any firm pieces or seeds, muddle the strawberries with the simple syrup in a cocktail shaker first.
After shaking everything with ice, fine-strain the concoction into your glass. Each sip will lack the distinctive icy bite, but the flavor will be extremely close.
The strawberry-flavored Daiquiris are the most well-known among the flavored Daiquiris, which also include beverages with flavors ranging from banana to mango.
Making Daiquiris is fun if you want to get creative, but you must first visit the fruit area before starting the mixer. Because, no matter how simple those pre-mixed pouches are to use, they cannot replicate the revitalizing flavor of fresh fruit.
The Strawberry Daiquiri is a summertime staple that conjures up images of sunny days and vacations spent by the pool. The drink is a delectable combination of outstanding rum, delicious strawberries, and fresh lime juice at its best.
However, the Strawberry Daiquiri’s image suffered during the 1980s and 1990sโthe period of artificial mixersโas bars served neon-colored concoctions devoid of any real strawberries. However, when properly made, the beverage is a revelation.
WHAT IS A DAIQUIRI?
Rum, lime juice, and sugar were the only components in Cox’s original daiquiri. Two limes’ worth of juice were squeezed over the sugar in a tall glass with ice, which was then filled with rum and briskly agitated. It then evolved into a shaken drink that was served in a coupe glass, and in the 1920s, Constante invented the frozen cocktail.
The 40s and 50s saw a rise in the popularity of fruity drinks and the Caribbean, which inspired bartenders to begin incorporating fruit into their daiquiris and eventually brought us to the present day. Now, practically any fruit you can find can be used to make a daiquiri. Some daiquiri bars provide a variety of frozen daiquiris in a machine ready at all times.
There are elements that, despite being altered from the original, remain genuine to their original creators. The original trio of rum, lime juice, and sugar are still present. The three basic ingredients are still the same, so the only change is to add your preferred fruit. There are several variations of the daiquiri cocktail, especially for your taste buds, including mango, banana, and even avocado. Although each of these is fantastic, the strawberry daiquiri is by far the most popular. So let’s start planning how we’re going to survive.
HISTORY OF THE DAIQUIRI
The daiquiri was invented by Jennings Cox, and we owe him our gratitude. After the Spanish-American War, Cox, an American engineer, moved to reside in Cuba. Rumor has it that he invented this drink after running out of gin at a party and starting to blend with Cuba’s surplus of rum.
Everyone who sampled the cocktail fell in love with it, so Cox gave it the name “Daiquiri” in honor of a nearby town of the same name.
The Cox’s cocktail wasn’t introduced to Americans until 1909. Cox’s friend, Admiral Lucius W. Johnson, paid a visit to Cuba. Naturally, Cox was entertaining and allowed Johnson to sample his new concoction. Johnson was smitten by the drink and shared it with the officers back in the Americas.
This drink was initially consumed on the rocks because there was no such thing as a blender when Cox created it. The daiquiri we know and love today didn’t exist until the 1920s.
With some shaved ice and an electric mixer, a guy going by the moniker “Constante” developed the daiquiri between 1920 and 1930.
He wanted to provide his customers something more inventive at the time because he ran a bar in Havana. Constante is now recognized as the official inventor of the “Frozen Daiquiri,” which is becoming more well-known than Cox’s original method of consuming it.
Cox and Constante deserve our gratitude for creating one of the most well-known drinks to date while living nearly 15 years apart and having never met.

WHAT GOES INTO STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRIS THAT ARE FROZEN
What you’ll need for Frozen Strawberry Daiquiris is as follows:
- Fresh strawberries, some of which are frozen. If you only use frozen, it has the consistency of sorbet and requires a spoon to eat. So I prefer to mix frozen and fresh ingredients!
- White rum: My go-to white rum is Bacardi, but you may also use Havana Club, Appleton, or Cruz. Bacardi is a white rum of average quality. You can use any decent value or mid level white rum in this cocktail recipe because of the fresh strawberry flavor. I personally think it’s a waste to use premium liquor in flavoring cocktails, so I don’t.
- Lime is necessary for a real daiquiri!
- Sugar syrup is simply dissolved white sugar and water in a ratio of 1:1. Since this is a cold beverage, using sugar that isn’t in syrup form will result in the sugar not dissolving. I keep a jar of cocktail ingredients in the refrigerator at all times.
WHAT KIND OF ALCOHOL IS USED TO MAKE A DAIQUIRI?
With white rum, which is transparent, frozen strawberry daiquiris are created. I drink Bacardi, a well-liked mid-range brand that is generally available in most of the world. However, you can use any, such as Cruz, Appleton, and Havana Club. Bacardi is a white rum of average quality.
Generally speaking, I don’t use top shelf booze in mixed drinks since I believe it’s superfluous. Instead, I use mid level liquor.
MAKE IT WITHOUT ALCOHOL!
Use apple juice instead of the white rum! The layers of flavor in the fruit juice will provide this cocktail that the rum adds a little something extra. If you only use water, the result will be a strawberry slushy, which is still delicious but lacks the added layer of flavor that liquor lends to cocktails.
WHY PREPARE THIS RECIPE FOR A STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI?
Pure berry flavor characterizes this strawberry daiquiri recipe. After only one bite, you’ll be praising it! It has the perfect amount of sugar and rum flavor at the very end. This is the ideal beverage for enjoying on the patio, if there ever was one. What makes it unique is as follows:
Real berries were used to create a genuine flavor! Who knows what’s in those daiquiri mixtures from the shop. This daiquiri has a luscious flavor because it is created with actual frozen berries and lime.
It’s been sweetened just right. This strawberry daiquiri is not too sugary, unlike some others. It’s been lightly sweetened so you can enjoy the genuine berry flavor without getting an upset stomach later.
Pure maple syrup is a natural sweetener that you can use if you choose them. It offers a new flavor dimension and subtly sweetens the combination without giving it a maple flavor.
A STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI RECIPE
When our nephews came over for an epic cousin overnight one evening, this strawberry daiquiri received its initial test run. We had homemade pizza cooked with the greatest dough and simple pizza sauce, ice cream, and a movie night with popcorn.
The adults were worn out by the end of the night! So after the small ones were all asleep, we got the blender out to create some homemade daiquiris. Man, those were excellent! The ideal dish for exhausted parents recovering in the evening. The greatest strawberry daiquiri recipe is provided below:
- Mix things up: Blend till smooth 1 pound of frozen strawberries, 1/4 cup lime juice, 6 tablespoons simple syrup, 1 cup white rum, 1 cup of ice, and 1/8 teaspoon salt. The flavors are rounded out and made stronger by the salt!
- Pour into a glass and top with a lime slice and a frozen strawberry to serve. Any glass, from a margarita glass to a straightforward cocktail glass, may be used.
ADVICE ON HOW TO PREPARE A FROZEN STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI
The following considerations should be made when preparing this strawberry daiquiri recipe:
- Make the greatest rum you can. The cocktail is more flavorful the higher the rum quality.
- The best frozen strawberries are to be used. We experimented with a few various brands of frozen berries, and the best brand yielded the best results.
- Chill or freeze your rum (optional). We used a cocktail shaker to cool our rum when making this strawberry daiquiri recipe for the pictures here. To keep the beverage really cold, you can also place the rum in the freezer the night before.
I’m done now! If you attempt this strawberry daiquiri recipe, let us know how it goes and if it makes nights with tired parents easier. Or a pool party, cookout, girl’s night, bridal shower, or…really anytime!
A TRADITIONAL DAIQUIRI ISN’T FROZEN, DID YOU KNOW THAT?
The Classic Daiquiri, which is not at all frozen, is a variation, as are the frozen lime and strawberry daiquiris. One of the most traditional sour drinks ever created was created in the early 1900s! It is prepared easily in a cocktail glass with rum, lime, and sugar.
Later emerged the ubiquitous frozen daiquiris of today! Try our Classic Daiquiri; it’s simple to create and has the ideal balance. Added rotation? The classy Hemingway Daiquiri, made with Maraschino liqueur and grapefruit juice.
TIPS BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
- Your cocktail will taste better the greater the rum quality. Since the dish was created in Cuba, we will prepare it that way today and urge you to as well.
- Bring it to life! Use just fresh lime. If you use store-bought lime juice, you will miss out on a crucial flavor profile. Lime juice that has just been squeezed is simple to make and will elevate your drink experience.
- Use strawberries of superior quality. Considering that fruit makes up the majority of a daiquiri, selecting high-quality fruit is crucial. You won’t regret splurging on organic frozen strawberries.
- Simple syrup is simple to make at home and is superior than store-bought versions. One cup of water and one cup of premium sugar should be added to a pot and heated to dissolve over medium heat. Before adding the syrup in your cocktail, let it cool fully.
- Our daiquiri tastes even better because we are using homemade simple syrup, which is less processed. Try using a light-colored agave instead if you don’t want to use simple syrup (or just don’t have time to create it). Since the darker agaves have a stronger flavor and we don’t want it to overpower the cocktail, using a lighter-colored agave will allow the flavors to still stand out.
WHAT RUM MAKES THE BEST DAIQUIRI?
For this recipe, a white rum is preferable to a darker, aged, or spiced rum. White rum has a crisp, delicate flavor that complements rather than competes with the strawberry’s natural flavor. (Having said that, use your black rum if that’s what you have.)
This drink is a good fit for the widely accessible and reasonably priced brand Mount Gay.
A CROWD’S STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRIS?
There are plenty of daiquiris left over from this recipe for a party! Have your glasses (and your guests) ready because it’s best to prepare and serve this drink immediately away while it’s still icy and slushy.
Do you only need one serving? No issue. Simply adjust the recipe’s yield to produce whatever many or few drinks you desire.

Ingredients
- 1ย pound frozen strawberries
- 6 tablespoonsย simple syrupย (or pure maple syrup)
- ยผ cupย lime juice
- 1 cupย best quality white or light rum
- 1 cupย ice
- โ teaspoonย kosher salt
Instructions
- In a blender or Nutribullet, combine all of the ingredients.
- Blitz until all of the strawberries have been blitzed.
- Taste and adjust the sweetness with additional syrup and the sourness with lime (and booze if you dare!).
- Pour into glasses (see video for consistency) and top with fresh strawberries to serve!
Notes
- 1. To obtain the right slushy texture, I combine fresh and frozen strawberries. If you simply use frozen, it will turn out like a sorbet that you must eat with a spoon!
- 2. Sugar Syrup – combine equal parts white sugar and water in a saucepan and heat until the sugar melts. Pour into a jar and set aside to cool before using. OR substitute any other liquid syrup of your choice.
- 3. White rum – Bacardi (my preference), Havana Club, or other of your choosing
- 4. VARIATION: Use 90 mL (3 oz) white rum and 30 mL (1 oz) Cointreau. It gives it a little additional tropical flavor! This is something I do frequently.

STRAWBERRY GIN SMASH
A’ smash’ is one of the most adaptable cocktails available. Why? Because there are no guidelines for creating one. A smash is essentially a type of cocktail made with ice and booze.
Many also use fruits, which you could say are ‘mashed,’ but many do not. I believe the term is used when there is no formal term, such as a daiquiri or a martini. In this scenario, you’ll begin with a delightful strawberry and lime base, then add club soda and gin.
