WHAT ARE BABY YODA COOKIES?

Katy Atakturk, a Seattle baker, shared her original Baby Yoda cookies on social media, and these adorable cookies have gone viral among Star Wars fans.

Begin by removing the angel’s head from an angel cookie cutter. The wings then transform into Baby Yoda’s ears. What a brilliant hack!

These delectable cookies perfectly mimic the silhouette of little Grogu. Easy and delicious royal icing can be dyed to his signature colors to make adorable cookies. For a fun Star Wars cookie party, pair them with Disney’s blue Macarons!

This recipe does take some time because the icing needs to set. The decorating, on the other hand, is simple enough that it can easily become a family affair.

When individually packaged, they keep well and can even be frozen for up to 6 months if you want to make a few batches at once.

You won’t believe how easily an Angel Cookie Cutter can be transformed into a Baby Yoda. To match the shape of The Child’s ears, you’ll need to use an angle cutter with pointed wings facing upward.

After you’ve cut out the cookies, remove the angels’ heads, leaving the top slightly rounded to mimic the space between Baby Yoda’s ears. You can save the scraps and re-roll them to make more dough.

INGREDIENTS AND SUBSTITUTES For Yoda Cookies

  • All-purpose flour: For the sugar cookie dough, use all-purpose flour.
  • Corn starch is the secret ingredient that keeps your sugar cookies from spreading while baking. It’s also credited with making cookies extra chewy.
  • Salt: A small amount of salt in baked goods actually enhances the sweetness. In this recipe, table salt works best.
  • Unsalted Butter: Remove your butter from the refrigerator a few hours before baking to allow it to come to room temperature.
  • Sugar is such an important ingredient that it even made its way into the cookie’s name! All you need is plain white sugar.
  • One egg is required for this recipe.
  • Vanilla extract: It will improve the flavor of your cookies. Pure vanilla or artificial vanilla will both work fine.
  • Powdered sugar is used to make royal icing.
  • Meringue Powder: It aids in the formation of a firm and stable icing that hardens quickly. This was the brand that I used.
  • Water: For this recipe, you’ll need room temperature water.
  • Food coloring and coloring gel: You’ll need to color your icing to match Baby Yoda’s eyes, which should be green, brown, and black. If necessary, combine red, yellow, and blue to make brown. You can make eyes out of black coloring, black decorating gel, or melted dark chocolate.

HOW TO MAKE BABY YODA COOKIES

The Baby Yoda shape is created by cutting off the angel heads after using a standard angel cookie cutter. Isn’t it brilliant and entertaining?

  1. The cookie dough is rolled out to the desired thickness, and the first cut outs are made with a standard Christmas angel cookie cutter. The angel cookies are then placed on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  1. Now comes the dramatic part: using a butter knife, cut off the angel heads and smooth the edges to form a mound.
  1. The next step in making these out-of-the-ordinary cookies is to freeze them for at least 15 minutes. The dough cookies will keep their shape in the oven this way.
  1.  They are baked for about ten minutes in the oven, rotating the tray halfway through to ensure that the cookies are evenly baked on all sides.
  1. In the meantime, you can improve the flavor by making a buttercream frosting base. After the cookies have cooled, a thin layer of the frosting base is spread on top of each one.
  1. The next step is to make the Royal Icing, which is made with water, powdered sugar, and meringue powder. For each color you intend to use, a 14 cup of icing is used. Each partition is placed in its own plastic sandwich bag, which is then colored.
  1. The next step is to outline all of the Baby Yoda cookies, which can take up to 10 minutes. The next step is to fill them in with the appropriate icing color, which may take longer to set.
  1. Finally, focus on the finishing touches by dropping two small dots of black icing for Yoda’s eyes, which should spread slightly, and adding a few tiny white specks on each eye with a toothpick.

BABY YODA COOKIES TOOLS & TIPS

  • Cookie cutters: The most important tool in this recipe is an angel-shaped cookie cutter, which will give you the perfect shape for your little Baby Yoda. If you don’t already have one, look for an angel with wings shaped like Baby Yoda’s ears.
  • Rolling pin: A rolling pin will be required to roll out your dough before cutting it.
  • This recipe can be made with either a hand or stand mixer. To cream the butter and sugar in a stand mixer, use the whisk attachment first, then switch to the paddle attachment when adding the dry ingredients.
  • Pastry bag (optional): If you have pastry bags on hand, they’re a great tool for icing these cookies, but you don’t need to buy any. A zip top bag is always an option.

HOW TO STORE BABY YODA SUGAR COOKIES?

Once completely dry, your Baby Yoda cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. You can stack them at this point without ruining the design, but keep them away from direct sunlight to prevent the colors from fading.

Cookies packed individually in cello bags not only make cute gifts or on-the-go treats, but they also keep for 3-4 weeks. They can also be frozen for up to 6 months.

Blue macarons from Williams Sonoma satisfy your Baby Yoda cravings without committing infanticide. There is a major spoiler for The Mandalorian ahead! Description

These royal icing-decorated Baby Yoda Cookies feature crisp edges and soft centers. These gorgeous sugar cookies are simple to create and look perfectly like the Mandalorian beast when finished thanks to a simple trick of using a Christmas angel cookie cutter. It’s all over social media, and Star Wars fans love it.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Sugar Cookies

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ tablespoons corn starch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup sugar1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Royal Icing

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 ½ tablespoons meringue powder
  • 45 tablespoons water room temperature
  • food coloring (You’ll need green, brown. If you don’t have brown, you can mix red, yellow, and blue)
  • black decorating gel (You can also use melted dark chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, corn starch, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Combine the butter and sugar in a stand mixer or a hand mixer.
  3. Continue beating until the egg and vanilla essence are well incorporated. Scrape down the bowl’s sides.
  4. Combine the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Mix everything together until it’s completely smooth.
  5. Wrap the dough with plastic wrap after it has been flattened. Refrigerate for 30-60 minutes to firm up the mixture. (Keep it in the fridge for up to one day.)
  6. Place the dough on a flour-dusted flat surface once it has chilled. With a rolling pin, roll it out to about 1/4 inch thick. To keep the dough from sticking, move it around.

Notes

It’s critical to use room temperature butter so that the sugar can be creamed correctly.

To avoid making them too black, slowly add the food coloring to the frosting. If you’re afraid, set aside a small quantity of white icing to add back in if required.

If your decoration isn’t smooth, you can smooth it out with your fingertips.

If you don’t have brown coloring, you can make the color with a mix of red, yellow, and blue.
