In 1931, Bisquick baking mix was created, and it quickly gained popularity as a “wonder mix” that anybody could use to make baked goods at home. In addition to biscuits, muffins, pies, coffee cakes, and maybe most notably, pancakes and waffles, Bisquick can be used in various recipes.

This recipe is the original one for Bisquick waffles, and there’s a good reason why it hasn’t changed over time. It seldom fails and consistently produces fluffy, tasty waffles!

RECIPE FOR BISQUICK WAFFLES

These are all the typical ingredients if you’ve previously cooked waffles with Bisquick. Bisquick is very practical since all of the ingredients are everyday household items.

  • You will need 2 cups of Bisquick baking mix for each batch. If you want to make more, you can easily double everything as a 40-ounce box of Bisquick makes 9 cups.
  • 1 13 cups of milk, preferably whole milk, but any milk will do!
  • One large egg at room temperature.
  • Two tablespoons of vegetable oil are required. You might substitute melted butter, lard, coconut, or olive oil with a mild flavor.

ADDITIONS & SUBSTITUTIONS

Although Bisquick waffles are delicious right out of the package, there are a few ways to improve them. Listed here are some of my favorites:

  • Buttermilk – Use buttermilk instead of milk to make even richer and fluffier waffles!
  • Chocolate Chips – Add some chocolate chips if you have a sweet tooth! The chocolate chips, a perennial favorite among kids and adults, will melt in the waffle iron.
  • Vanilla Extract: You can improve the flavor of your waffles by adding just one teaspoon of pure vanilla extract to the batter. Almond extract would also function.
  • To add a slight fruity sweetness, fold 1/4 cup of fresh blueberries into the batter.
  • Maple Syrup – Syrup has a variety of applications! For delicious maple waffles, add some syrup to your waffle batter.
  • Spices: A teaspoon each of brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg is always appreciated!

HOW TO MAKE BISQUICK WAFFLES

The recipe calls for a premade baking mix, which is relatively straightforward. To remove your waffles from the waffle iron, use a non-metal, silicone, rubber, wood, or plastic spoon because metal can scratch the surface.

  1. Mix. In a sizable mixing basin, combine the following ingredients: 2 cups Bisquick baking mix, 1 13 cups milk, one egg, and two teaspoons vegetable oil. Mix everything completely using a hand mixer or a whisk.
  2. Heat. Waffle iron preparation involves heating up and turning it on. If necessary, add non-stick spray (*see note).
  3. Pour. Directly into the center of the waffle iron, pour the waffle batter.
  4. Cook. Cook the batter for about 5 minutes or until the waffle iron stops steaming (*see note). After that, serve the waffle(s) with care.

CAN YOU FREEZE WAFFLES?

Has your waffle-making gone overboard? You can freeze these delicious breakfast goodies, so there is no need to worry!

Your waffles can be frozen for up to a month if you take the proper precautions to keep them fresh and dry.

  • Waffles should be allowed to reach room temperature.
  • Wrap each waffle with a piece of foil or plastic.
  • Please put it in a closed container.
  • They can stay frozen for up to a month!

All you have to do to enjoy those delectably fluffy waffles when the time comes is to unwrap them and reheat them in the oven for 10 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Of course, this is also possible in a toaster!

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PANCAKE MIX AND WAFFLE MIX?

Since waffle mix contains more sugar, it might caramelize and develop a slight crunch on the edges. Because they frequently have more fluff, it also contains more baking powder. Waffle batter has more fat added, giving it its flawlessly crisp exterior.

REHEATING FROZEN WAFFLES

You can reheat frozen waffles in a few different ways:

  • Microwave: Depending on your microwave, arrange the waffles in a single layer and heat for 45 to 60 seconds.
  • Oven: Arrange the waffles on a sheet pan, then wrap the pan in foil if you’re reheating a lot of waffles. Just heat through at 350 degrees in the oven.
  • One or two waffles should be placed in the toaster or toaster oven. Depending on your toaster, you’ll generally want to use the medium-low setting. In this situation, you can use the preset on your toaster for warming frozen items.

TIPS FOR THE BEST WAFFLES

  • Avoid over-mixing the batter. There might still be a few tiny lumps, but that’s alright. A tough waffle can be the result of excessive mixing.
  • Make sure your waffle maker is set to medium heat. The outside should be crisp but not scorched. Making sure they are fully cooked also helps.
  • Make sure the waffle iron is not under or overfilled with batter. To find out how much batter is required, consult the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Cooked waffles should be kept warm and crispy until serving if you prepare them for a large group and need to keep them that way while cooking—Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F.

HOW TO FREEZE AND STORE

Do you still have any waffles? They can be frozen or stored without any issues.

  • Store: Allow them to cool completely before putting them in a zip-top bag or another airtight container for storage.
  • Make sure to let them cool before freezing. They should be frozen on a baking sheet in the freezer. Put the frozen waffles in a container or zip-top freezer bag. They can last for three months.
  • Reheat: To make them warm and crispy, you may reheat them in the oven or the air fryer. Heat till warm in the oven at 375 degrees for 3 to 5 minutes or in the air fryer at 380 degrees for 2 to 3 minutes.
